MY PERSONAL CHEF®

Alice Evans

First of all, welcome. I'm Alice Evans, one of the owners and head chef at My Personal Chef®. Having my own professional kitchen has been a dream of mine since I was about 12 years old. As the oldest child of parents who both worked full time, much of the responsibility for cooking for the family fell to me. I quickly learned that food was a way to reach not just my family, but others as well. The sense of accomplishment and pride I felt when someone enjoyed a dish or meal I prepared was like nothing I had ever experienced before.

As my son Araf grew up, I had to learn to flex my culinary muscles even more. Araf was probably the most finicky, picky eater a mother ever raised. Try to imagine slaving over a hot stove for 6 hours preparing a gourmet meal, and having your only son say, "I think I'll just have some eggs and cheese Mom". Needless to say, his unchallenged palate didn't deter me.

I was blessed with the opportunity to attend culinary arts school which only fueled my love and passion for food even further. So when the chance to build my own kitchen came my way, I jumped at it!

This brings us to My Personal Chef® which is everything I ever dreamed of and more. I am excited about being able to offer our customers great home made food, and a chance to learn, "How the other half Lives".

I live with my husband Dave on a little acreage west of Central City which is about 30 minutes north of Cedar Rapids. We are life long residents of Central City and both of us graduated from High School there. We have lived in the area our whole lives except for the year and a half when we lived in Germany while Dave was in the service. Roman was born there and I brought him home when he was two months old.

When Roman started 1st grade, I went back to school and received my BA from Mt. Mercy College in Education. Roman now lives in Colorado and will be married to Sammie Dee in October 2007. He has lived in the area for 5 years now and enjoys the area.

I have had many jobs over my working career including: Legal Secretary, Teacher, Supervisor in a calling card center, Software sales, Store Manager, Cosmetics sales, order management and Director or a Day Care Center. My longevity at a job seems to be about 4 years either by my choice or the closing of the company.

I am so excited about starting My Personal Chef®. It has been fun, exciting and most of our obstacles have been overcome from hard work and the blessings of God. I look forward to meeting all of you and hope you enjoy living "How the other half lives".
